Hi guys! It’s Kim from Scrapbookwithkim on IG! Today I have something very different to share with you guys; I will be using MommyLhey’s products to bible journal! I am fairly new to bible journaling (since August 2016), and I am really glad that some of ML’s products can be used to do so. The verse that I will be journaling about will be from the book of Isaiah:
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool”
-Isaiah 1:18 NIV
The products that I will be using are listed below:
- Brown bonded leather journaling bible by Crossway from the Family Christian store
- ML’s newest pigment inks in the colors: Golden, Beach, Milk Shake, Lavender, and Escape
- ML’s new stamps: Peek-a-Boo, Doodled Sweater, Christmas Friends, and Chubby Flags
- ML’s new Urban Chic Pen
- Memento Ink pad
- Recollections Water Color Brush from Michaels
I like to highlight the verse that I will be working with before I start anything. So I’m taking the banner from the Peek-a-Boo stamp set and using the Milk Shake ink, I am going to stamp over the verse as a way to “highlight” it.
I wanted some snow on my page so taking the new Urban Chic Pen, I attempted to draw some snow (LOL).
After I drew the snow, I realized that I shouldn’t have drawn the snow until I stamped the snowman from the Doodled Sweater stamp set because now there is a line going through my snowman and I was attempting to make the snowman look like he was sitting on top of the snow.
The rest of the images are from the Christmas Friends stamp set and ML’s inks in the colors: Golden, Milk Shake, and Escape. I wanted to make it appear that snow was falling so I took the big and small circles to do so.
Next, I used the watercolor brush pen and ML’s pigment inks to “watercolor” the stamped images. I LOVE this technique because you get really good results and you can add as many layers as you want to get to the shade that you need. So here I was trying to fade out the Lavender color on the snowman’s hat to give it some depth and dimensions.
Then using the rest of the ink colors, I watercolored the rest of the stamped images. I love how it turned out and the best thing about using ML’s pigment inks is that they will not bleed through your bible journal pages. However, since I put a lot of layers on some areas, there were minimal bleeding.
I like to summarize the verse on the page so I used the Chubby Flags stamp set to stamp out the word “SNOW”. I carefully plan out where I am going to put the words so I can plan to stamp accordingly.
I used various alpha stickers to spell out the rest. I am very happy with how it turned out and I hope that this blog post inspired you to use ML’s planner products in your Bible Journal.
Lastly, I wanted to say thankyou to all who has been reading my posts on ML’s blog as this will be my last blog post. I will be traveling for the next 2.5 months and will no longer be able to commit to the requirements of the Design Team. However, you may still find me on IG and YouTube: ScrapbookwithKim. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
