Hello ladies! My name is Jackie (@cheekypapercreations) and I am so excited to be a guest designer this month! I absolutely love the February Little Bits Box and I am going to show you how I made dividers, bookmarks and a dashboard using the products in it. The bright pinks, greens and yellows are so fun and perfect for the warm weather we are getting here in Texas.
After seeing the ephemera and patterned papers that came with the kit, I knew right then – they would make the perfect dividers for my personal planner!
I cut two pieces out of each piece of paper, both at 3.75” x 6.75”. I found that I could get more out of the paper if I cut 4.25” off the short end, leaving the remaining papers at 6.75” x 8.5”. I then cut that piece at 3.75” (so I ended up with two pieces at the appropriate size, from that big piece). When I cut them like this, I ended up with a nice big chunk (4.75” x 8.5”) of each patterned paper left over, which I could play with at a later time.
I adored the circular shape icons and felt like these were perfect for my divider tabs. I chose to use the circles but there are so many cute ephemera pieces included in the box, that you could find the ones that you like best for your dividers. You can choose to have yours stick out as little or as much as you would like. Mine overhang by about half an inch.
I alternated the paper patterns and arranged the ephemera in a cascade, on the long side; so that I could see all the ‘sweet’ smiling kawaii faces at once.
I laminated all of the dividers and cut far enough away that there was a thin (about 0.25”) border of laminate. I also laminated (and cut) a piece of the same size patterned paper but without any extras added to it, to use as my dashboard. I plan on using my dashboard in way that I can change the look of it at any time. Currently, I have one of the journaling cards, “Hello sweet life!” attached to the dashboard with the adorable strawberry washi tape, found in the kit.
Did you guys see the awesome printables that were included in this month’s box?! I just had to use the bookmarks in my planner! I resized the bookmarks so that they would fit my personal size binder. I enlarged them to about 7.25” x 3.5” and printed them on white cardstock. I used a knife tool to cut some of the blank spots in the lettering, then laminated and punched them.
I hope this helped inspire you to get crafty with your Little Bits Box! Thank you all for stopping by the blog and allowing me the honor of being a guest designer. Be sure to keep checking the blog for more amazing inspiration and ideas from the always creative, Mommy Lhey team.
