Hello everyone! It’s me Cammy back on the blog today. It’s been really hectic this month with my postgraduate studies and it’s so difficult to find time to sit down, relax and craft. I’m always so grateful for a little downtime on the weekends to play with all my beautiful MommyLhey goodies. I’ve been thinking about creating these flag paperclips for a while, and I’ve finally got down to making them. I can’t wait to show you how simple and easy it is!
You will need:
- Patterned paper cut into strips (Mine are roughly 1.5” to 2” wide)
- Paper clips (the longer the better!)
- Adhesive (glue/sticky tape)
- Stickers, doileys, sequins, anything cute for decorating!
- Ephemera (I’m using MommyLhey’s digital stamps!)
First you will need to print your digital stamps onto sticker paper or cardstock, and make sure that they are small enough to fit our paperclips. I’m using the digital stamps from the April, May and July Little Bits box, as well as freebies from our Mommy Lhey Facebook Group. That little macaroon was a dashboard/pocket card freebie that I shrank down to size!
I colored in the images using copic markers, and fussy cut them out.
Cut one strip of paper so that it’ll have a banner edge on both sides.
Add a little bit of adhesive along the middle of the flag and stick both sides together. Do not put adhesive near the crease, because we need some space to fit the paperclip in.
I folded it at an angle, so that the pattern on the other side of the paper would peek out like so.
Simply decorate the flag, and then slip the “open” edge of the paperclip in between that fold, and voila!
You can choose not to fold the paper at an angle, especially if your patterned paper is single sided. This is what it’ll look like.
You can also layer different pieces of papers together. I used some leftover vellum, a piece of doily scrap and a sticker. Everything here is from the July Little Bits box. I used this clip to decorate the front of an insert cover in my TN. I loooove it!
This is how the unicorn clip looks like in my planner. Everything here is from the April Little Bits box. I still can’t get over how cute that box was!
And here are all the flag paperclips I made! They are really simple and easy to make, and it’s a great way to use up your leftover scraps and stickers. I hope you like them as much as I do! Please do share your creations and tag @mommylhey in your projects, as well as share them on our Facebook group – Mommy Lhey Everything.
Take care and I’ll see you in the next blog post!
