Happy Valentine’s Day!!
It’s Steph [IG: Beautybystarlet] back again with another ADORABLE DIY Project using the “Peek-a-boo” and “Patterned My Hexa” Mommylhey clear stamps!
This DIY project is super easy to do and can work with almost any planner setup! I am making bookmarks for the Happy Planner this week, but a simple change to the hole punching pattern can alter your bookmarks for any planner!
2. White cardstock
4. Coloring Medium
5. Hole punch
7. Laminator (optional)
Start out by cutting out your cardstock into 3 inch x 5 inch pieces.
Next, stamp your favorite characters at the top of these inserts. I decided to use the SUPER CUTE characters from the “Peek-a-boo” stamp set for mine. I think these are the PERFECT stamps for the DIY Bookmarks as they add a nice accent with their adorable ears! If you’ve been following along with previous blog posts, you’ll know that I like to “mask” off areas when stamping in layers. I simply stamp the residual ink onto a post-it and cut these shapes out to cover my original image.
These post-its will act as a “mask” while we stamp on top with a different type of ink. Once you remove the post-it, you’ll notice that your original image was protected from any additional stamping.
I used the “Patterned My Hexa” stamps to create a vertical pattern under my “Peek-a-boo” characters. I used “Peonie Pink“, “Enlightened” and “It’s Red” pigment inks to create a beautiful color scheme. I was inspired by the colors of Valentine’s Day!
Next, I used scissors to cut along the outline of the right and top of the bookmarks. This creates a nice custom feel to each shape. Make sure to leave the left border intact for your hole punch!
Depending on the type of planner you have, hole punch accordingly! If you don’t own the Happy Planner hole punch, line up your bookmark with an insert and hole punch each hole with the guiding insert. I used scissors to add the slits at the end.
Lastly, if you have a laminator, I’d run this little guy through it to create a long lasting bookmark!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Please be sure to tag me on IG @beautybystarlet! I’d love to see your DIY Bookmarks! <3 <3
