Hello all! Brenda Smith here with you today sharing my first ever post as an ML Girl! I can’t tell you how honored I am to be in this spot right now. I look forward to the opportunity to inspire you using the Mommy Lhey Designs products to come! For my first project, I decorated a spread in my Happy Planner that I use as a memory planner. I used the September Little Bits Kit and I am absolutely enamored with how cute the pastel bits and pieces are.
After gluing down all my embellishments and photos, I outlined the edges of almost everything I glued. I like the contrast of the sharp black edges with the soft pastel colors.
I love the choices from the Little Bits die cut ephemera and all the sticker sheets. I stamped out a few of the images from the stamp set in the Little Bits kit and then cut them out and glued them to my spread. I stamped the heart pennant in the ML pigment ink, Sea Breeze. The busy bee image is stamped in peony pink.
I usually like to have one tiny unifying element throughout the entire spread, whether it be sequins or stickers or stamps. On this spread, I used the tiny flower stamp from the September Little Bits stamp set stamped in Lavender from the Jelly Bean ink set and repeatedly stamped the image throughout the spread.
I used a few different techniques on this side that I’d like to share with you. First, I took the backing packaging from one of the Little Bits items and cut it down to be a sticker to fit one of the squares in my Happy Planner. The packaging on every item was just way too cute throw away. I’m sure you’ll see me using more throughout the month.
Could you throw this away??? No, I didn’t think so. Save these beauties and put them to work in your planners or pocket pages!
The next technique I used involves altering the sticky notes that came in the kit. While they are perfectly usable as is, I didn’t have enough space for the entire thing in my design idea. So I broke out a label paper punch.
Then I used the “Make it Happen” label as an extra space for journaling on my Memory Planner spread.
I stamped more of the flowers in Lavender to tie the whole spread together. I’m very pleased with how it turned out!
