Hello friends! Brenda Smith here with you today and I’m excited to show you what I’ve come up with using the September Little Bits kits, various Mommy Lhey stamp sets, and my brand new MINI Happy Planner.
Now I know I can’t be the only one who feverishly checked her local big box craft stores until the mini Happy Planner was in stock. They are just so beautiful to look at! But when I got home and sat down to make a spread, I felt a sudden sense of paralysis. The space inside was so much smaller than what I was used to. After pondering for a while, I came to the conclusion that I will be using my mini HP as a way to document the cute things my kids do or say.
This is sort of along the same vein as a memory planner, but since the writing space is much smaller in this planner, I am narrowing the focus to my kids and the cute stuff they do.
The September Little Bits kits worked perfectly for this spread because of all the adorable, kid-friendly imagery. I decided to use my typewriter this time because I wanted to contrast the soft pastels and sweet imagery with the grungy look of my vintage typewriter. It was really acting up on me this time so this is a little more grungy than I bargained for but I’m going with it.
I used the Today’s Forecast stamp to document the rare occasion of rain and thunderstorms here in the desert. I stamped the sweet little raindrops in Sea Breeze. I also broke out perhaps my favorite set from the September stamp release, Bold & Chic. These little pennant flags with the space in between are perfect for adding a sentiment to your stamped image.
Remember the repurposed packaging that I used on my memory planner spread earlier in the month? I had some left over and used this little scene with the mushrooms and tree. The “smitten!” sentiment is from the Beary Bear stamp set.
I love how well the MLD September Little Bits kit matched my mini HP. I didn’t even bother to cover up any of the colors because it all accented each other so nicely.
I stamped the gorgeous floral cluster from “Scripty Months” in Sea Breeze because I needed there to be more aqua on this side of the spread for color balance. I love how well the Mommy Lhey inks coordinate with her monthly kits. It takes out a lot of the guesswork of having to find matching inks.
If you haven’t picked up any of the September or October stamp sets yet, what are you waiting for?! There’s too much good stuff to pass up and if you use my code MLBRENDA10, you’ll get 10% off your entire order.
See you around!
